Hajj & Umrah Vaccinations

Protect Yourself Before Your Sacred Journey

Hajj is the world’s largest annual pilgrimage, held in the Makkah Province of Saudi Arabia during the 8th to 13th days of Dhu al-Hijjah (the final month of the Islamic calendar). Unlike Hajj, Umrah is a spiritual pilgrimage to Makkah that can be performed at any time of the year.

Before embarking on either pilgrimage, it is vital to meet all the mandatory health requirements issued by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Health (MoH). One of the key requirements is Meningitis ACWY vaccination, which you can receive at Layanson Pharmacy.

We offer specialist travel consultations to help you prepare medically and ensure all your documentation and vaccine schedules meet the Kingdom’s entry guidelines.

Who Needs the Meningitis ACWY Vaccine?

If you’re traveling from the UK for Hajj, Umrah, or work within the pilgrimage zones in Saudi Arabia, you are required to present a certificate of Meningitis ACWY vaccination. This applies to anyone aged 2 years and above.

The certificate must be:

  • Issued no more than 3–5 years ago (depending on vaccine brand)

  • Administered at least 10 days before departure

  • Presented when applying for your visa

Without this certificate, your visa application will be rejected.

Additional Health Advisory (from Saudi MoH)

For health and safety, the Saudi Ministry of Health strongly advises the following individuals to postpone their pilgrimage:

  • Adults over 65 years old

  • Those with chronic conditions (heart, kidney, respiratory, diabetes)

  • People with weakened immune systems

  • Individuals with cancer or terminal illness

  • Pregnant women

  • Children under 12 years old
