Period Delay Tablets – Convenient Control When You Need It Most

At Layanson Pharmacy, we offer period delay tablets to help you manage your menstrual cycle around important life events like exams, holidays, or special occasions. These tablets work by delaying your period safely and effectively when taken correctly.

How Do Period Delay Tablets Work?

Our period delay tablets contain a synthetic hormone called progesterone. Each month, a natural drop in progesterone levels triggers your period. By maintaining high hormone levels, these tablets delay your period for up to 17 days.

To use:

  • Take one tablet three times a day

  • Begin taking the tablets at least three days before your period is due

  • Continue taking them for up to 14 days

If you start the medication less than three days before your expected period, the tablets may be less effective, and you could experience breakthrough bleeding or spotting.

Are There Side Effects?

Most people tolerate the tablets well. However, like any medication, side effects can occur. These may include:

  • Spotting or irregular bleeding

  • Sore or tender breasts

  • Mild nausea or stomach upset

The longer the medication is used, the higher the chances of experiencing these side effects. Always consult a pharmacist or healthcare provider if you have concerns.

Important Safety Information

These tablets may increase the risk of blood clots, especially during extended periods of inactivity such as long flights. To reduce the risk:

  • Stay active and move around regularly during travel

  • Avoid use if you have a history of blood clots

Before we dispense period delay tablets, we’ll ask you about any medications you’re currently taking- both prescribed and over-the-counter-to avoid any interactions.

If you’re not suitable for this treatment based on your health history, we’ll help explore other options.

When Do Periods Usually Start?

Most girls begin their periods between the ages of 10 and 16, with the average age being around 12. Periods generally begin about two years after the first signs of puberty, such as breast development and the growth of pubic hair.

Why Delay Your Period?

Delaying your period can be helpful when:

  • Preparing for important exams

  • Travelling or going on holiday

  • Participating in sports or events

  • Attending weddings, religious occasions, or other milestones
