Supporting the Vulnerable During the COVID-19 Crisis

At the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak, when uncertainty was high and the number of global deaths was rising rapidly, Layanson Pharmacy took swift action to protect those most at risk. We became the first pharmacy in the UK to roll out free medical care packages tailored for the elderly and individuals with underlying health conditions.

Partnering with the Human Relief Foundation, a respected local charity, we launched a community-driven initiative to reach those who needed support the most. Our aim was simple: to help high-risk individuals stay safe and supported while isolating during the lockdown.

Each care package included essential items such as a face mask, hand sanitizer, a tub of multivitamins and minerals, and a container of vitamin D. These items were chosen not only for protection but also to support immune health especially since emerging research at the time indicated that vitamins like D played a role in immune function.

The response was overwhelming. We began receiving requests from all over the UK—Glasgow, Birmingham, London, and Wales—from people desperately seeking support for their vulnerable family members. The need was urgent, and we were proud to be part of a solution during such a critical time.
